Assembly instructions for acrylic signs with stainless steel knobs

Acrylic is a great material that comes in a wide range of colors and varieties for different uses. The advantages of acrylic include light weight, durability and exceptional clarity, making them ideal for engraved signs. Acrylic signs provide an elegant look and easily fit into various design styles. In addition, acrylic signs are a cost-effective solution compared to other materials. However, it is important to note that acrylic can scratch more easily than some other materials, and it is less heat resistant. It is therefore important to be careful with the signs during installation. Here we will try to describe a simple best practice that will ensure that you can easily install your sign without scratching surfaces or missing hole spacing.

Preparations and equipment

Make sure you have the necessary equipment ready before assembly:
- Marker or similar for marking screw holes
- Drill for pre-drilling screw holes
- Phillips screwdriver for included screws
- Something soft to place the acrylic sheets on before assembly
- Glass cleaner and microfiber/glass cloth for cleaning signs

Feel free to test mount the sign, as in the picture above. Check that everything is correct, and consider whether you want to mount the back plate together with the front plate, or whether you prefer to mount the back plate between the house wall and the cylinder on the steel studs,

A little planning will make the installation go faster. You will also reduce the risk of scratching or damaging the sign during installation. Feel free to use the microfiber/glass cloth you will use to clean the sign as a base while you work:

1. Mark holes

Use the backplate or a paper template to mark where to drill holes for screws:

Make sure to center the holes as much as possible. We have designed in some room for adjustment, but the installation of the plate is much easier if the hole spacing is 100% correct.

2. Drill holes

We strongly recommend pre-drilling holes - it is difficult to screw by hand, and you risk damaging the threads of the screw. If you are going to attach the sign to a surface other than wood, you must purchase suitable screws and possibly plugs. In this case, make sure that the head of the screw is small enough to fit into the cylinder of the steel knob .

3. Screw the cylinder in place

Now you can screw the cylinder to which the sign will later be attached. In the example images below, we have chosen to mount the back plate between the house wall and the cylinder, which provides air between the front plate and the back plate. The back plate can also be mounted together with the front plate - consider which option you prefer.
The screw is inserted through the cylinder:

Try to tighten all 4 screws just enough so that you can still move the plate back and forth a little. Fine-tune until the plate is level and none of the holes are showing on the side of the cylinder:

Tighten the screws securely when you are satisfied with the final placement:

4. Wipe/clean sign boards

Once you have reached this point, it is a good time to remove fingerprints and other dirt from both the front and back panels. Later, it is difficult to reach the back panel and the back of the front panel. We recommend using a glass spray or other cleaning agent that does not leave a film on the glass. Wipe CAREFULLY with a glass/microfiber cloth. The acrylic surface is very vulnerable to small scratches, which can also occur if you apply too much pressure on the cloth or use hard paper.

5. Attach sign plate(s)

Now attach the steel stud that holds the front plate in place. The pictures below show the difference between mounting with and without a gap between the plates:

The sign is now ready - We hope you are happy with the new sign!
